6 in 10 New Yorkers Can't Name Both U.S. Senators

New York's civic literacy rate - leaves a lot to be desired. Just 16-percent of New Yorkers say they are "familiar" with U.S. Constitution.  58-percent could not name the state's two U.S. Senators. Researchers blame public schools' emphasis on math and science and lack of attention on civics and social studies. A poll by new york university's brennan center for justice says lawmakers need to "raise the alarm" over the lack of political engagement in the Empire state.
