300 Take Part In Battle Of Newtown Re-Enactment
08.30.10 |
300 people took part in the re-enactment of the Battle of Newtown outside the town of Ashland August 28th and 29th. The event commemorates the anniversary of the Sullivan Campaign at the battle of Newtown, which took place less then a quarter mile from the state park on August 29th, 1779.
Some were dressed as the British, some as American patriots-- and some-- as Indians coated in war paint. There were even cannons and hundreds of muskets used. Tours of kids got to try out weapons and there were walks in the woods given, where your group was "taken hostage".
