3 Counties In New York May Do Best Financially From The Marcellus Shale
07.28.11 |
Of all of the areas in the state, Broome, Tioga, and Chemung counties stand to win the most-- when Marcellus Shale Drilling starts. A team of geologists whose calculations helped spur the gas rush in Pennsylvania said Wednesday that the three county area of the Southern Tier holds the most promise amid the 18-thousand acres covered by the Marcellus Shale. They said the depth, thickness, core pressure and organic richness is the best in the state. They also said the southern half of Broome County looks to be the best. But if you're comparing New York to Pennsylvania-- all the geologists agreed-- P.A. definitely got the better part of the Shale. There are 58 permits pending for drilling just in that part of the shale already.
