2 Lawsuits Already Being Drawn Up Against NY Gun Control Bill

New York State's day-old gun law is already sparking criticism. The National Rifle Association and a lawyer in Buffalo are both planning to file federal lawsuits. Buffalo Attorney Jim Tresmond says the act is unconstitutional because it prevents homeowners from carrying certain firearms for their own protection; a breech of the Second Amendment. He also says it's a Fifth Amendment violation, because residents of the state have just a year to sell off or hand over any pre-1994 assault rifles. The Fifth Amendment states citizens cannot be forced to relinquish or sell property. Governor Cuomo brushed off threats of litigation yesterday, saying quote "people are free to bring lawsuits if they want. We are a litigious society."
