Your Real Worth

A speaker was talking to a bunch of young folks at a convention not too long ago. He held up a $50 bill and asked who wanted it. Most every hand went up. He then crumpled it up into a small wad and asked again who wanted it. The same hands went up. He then dropped it on the floor and started grinding it into the floor under his shoe. He picked it up, asked again who wanted it and the same hands went up. It's a good visual to show how the value of the bill never decreased. No matter what happened to the bill, it always had the same worth or value. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We sometimes feel as though we are completely worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, we will never lose our value in God's eyes. To Him, dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, we are still priceless to Him. Psalm 17:8 states that God will keep us 'as the apple of His eye.'" The worth of our lives does not come in what we do or who we are, but by Whose we are! Our self-worth is too often based on what other people tell us about ourselves. The one, true authority on our self-worth is Jesus Christ, and since He gave His own life up for us by dying on a cross, that should tell us just how valuable we really are.
