>>Pro-Life Implications To Nobel Prize

The 2012 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine took a pro-life turn. Baptist Press says Shinya Yamanaka discovered a way to produce stem cells that act like embryonic ones without the destruction of human embryos. Yamanaka's journey to his discovery began in the late 90's when looking at a human embryo through a microscope. He told "The New York Times" in 2007, quote, "When I saw the embryo, I suddenly realized there was such a small difference between it and my daughters. I thought, we can't keep destroying embryos for our research. There must be another way."

Dear Sonny,
When I was 39, I was an over-stressed, busy mom. As Sunday School Superintendent, Girl Scout Leader, Soccer Mom, Choir Member, Bible Study leader, and Grad Student, my life was full. Then I started a full-time job. I fell into bed late each night, my head still spinning with all that I needed to do. Each activity was worthwhile and I felt guilty saying no to any one that asked for help. I was burned out and exhausted, and short on patience with my husband and family. I finally asked God to help me with my overly committed, hectic life . . . and then I received the diagnosis of breast cancer. But it was just like Laura Story's song "Maybe your blessings come through raindrops . . ." Suddenly my priorities were crystal clear, I knew what was important and what to turn over to someone else. I saw my family, friends, and faith through new eyes, and I learned to slow down and spend time with my Lord. God taught me lessons that I needed. Cancer was truly a blessing to me. Laura Story sings, "Maybe a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know you're near." Cancer helped me to know He is near and sometimes I just need to stop and sit at His feet.
