My mother grew up with a very classic alcoholic father & enabler mother - neither demonstrated real love, appreciation, or pride in her. She grew up to be a physically & emotionally abusive & neglectful mother - especially with her own daughters. The only way I can simply convey how this affected me is to say that when I found out I was pregnant the first time I was scared to death of having a daughter, I wasnt sure of my mothers love - but I was sure of her comptempt and jealousy towards me - my oldest daughters name reflected that if she were a girl it was her fathers desire to have a girl - not mine. My mother was a terrible mother but I came to understand that she didn't have a role model either and though it wasn't good enough - she was the best mother she knew how to be. Thanks to some very special people God put in my life to be role models for me I was a much better mother & now have to beautiful daughters that grew up to be strong, considerate, responsible & loving young women (24 & 29) that never miss an opportunity to let me know that I mean the world to them as they do to me. I know in my heart that God (and tell my daughters) put people and places in my life that helped make me the mother I became. With that in mind I know that the mother that demonstrated so little love, and provided so much hurt in my life gave me the one thing I needed to become the person that is so thankful for the daughters I have & my relationship with my "father" the Lord our - My mother is the one that brought us up going to church - she planted the seed that gave fruit to the life and faith I now have - for that I am forever grateful!
