What motivates you at work? American workers like to be recognized for a job well done. More than a third of the employees taking part in a new Randstad study say bonuses and promotions are the most effective way of keeping them engaged in their work. But just 27-percent report that their employer uses bonuses and promotions as incentives. In addition, only 28-percent say their workplace has any "formal system" that recognizes employees for their efforts. However, 45-percent of the workers polled appreciate that their bosses encourage them to share their ideas and express their opinions. And nearly 40-percent say their company invests in them through training sessions, continuing education, and professional development programs.

Beth Feedback tells Charlotte's WCNC-TV she bought a painting for ten-dollars with the intention of painting over it. But Feedback -- who specializes in painting pictures of cats -- says one of her friends encouraged her to look up the artist's name on the back, and she eventually discovered that she was the owner of influential Russian artist Ilya Bolotowsky's "Vertical Diamonds." The painting was put up for auction at Sotheby's New York, where it sold for almost 35-thousand-dollars. Feedback will reportedly get 27-thousand-dollars, which she hopes to use to pay down debts and make improvements to her home.
