Chewy Chocolate Cookies

1 1/4 cups butter, softened
1 3/4-2 cups raw sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened dark cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
dash of salt

1 cup chopped nuts, optional

Cream butter and sugar in large bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla; blend well. Combine flour,
cocoa, soda, and salt; gradually blend into creamed mixture.
Stir in nuts if desired. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 8-9 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cookies will be soft.
Cool on sheets until set, about one minute. Remove to wire rack to cool
completely. Store in airtight container. YEILD: About 4 dozen
