Kitchen Ministry

More than just meals

God unites us with food.  Sharing a meal with family and friends can be a joyous and light-hearted experience.  The process brings about conversation, laughter, and togetherness.  Jesus and His disciples broke bread together and simply talked about their day.

Family Life Chef, Sherri Watters, and her crew of incredible kitchen volunteers, cook meals to compliment most of our large events.  On average, they serve between 400 and 600 meals at a time.  And that’s just the food.  The real ministry is in the process of making it.  Sherri will tell you.

“Our kitchen is more than a kitchen.  Jesus is Head Chef, keeping things together.  I could tell you about so many small miracles that saved the day.  Finding a recipe in the nick of time, substituting one ingredient for another, recruiting last minute volunteers – who, by the way, are sent straight from heaven!  The meal would not happen without them, and neither would the ministry.  It’s amazing what you can learn about someone over a sheet of cookies, or what happens when everyone pauses to pray for a need.  People love being a part of something big like that.”
