See You At The Pole
09.13.10 |
On Wednesday, Sept 22 students from all over the nation will gather at their schools’ flag pole to pray for their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation. Organzied prayer rallies outside of public schools are truly something to get excited about!
See You at the Pole is a student-initiated prayer event that started in 1990 as a grassroots movement in Burleson, Texas. It has spread mostly by word-of-mouth and now occurs all over the world on every fourth Wednesday in September. What a great way to unify teenagers at the beginning of the school year! The event also challenges Christian teens and young adults to act as strong witnesses to their friends and faculty.
Family Life is holding a follow-up event on the evening of Sept 22 called, Saw You at the Pole. This two-hour student get-together is meant to celebrate the prayer rally by initiating discussion between those who prayed that morning or want to be a part of next year's rally. It also encourages teens to spread the word for 2011. Click here for more info on Family Life event, Saw You at the Pole.
