History of Family Life

The Story

Founded in 1957, and located in Bath, NY, Family Life was born out of a man’s desire to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people.  By starting Area Youth for Christ (YFC), Dick Snavely taught kids and teenagers about Jesus through simple Christian programs and activities.  As years passed, YFC expanded to include adult programs, family-marriage counseling, and soon after that, a network of FM radio stations. In 1965, the ministry changed its name from YFC to Family Life Ministries, and after moving from facility to facility, found a home just outside of Bath, NY – where we sit today.  It's amazing how God's provision has allowed Family Life to grow from one employee and a donated office to a staff of over fifty people.

The Family Life Network (FLN) began in 1983 and is listener-supported Christian radio network that broadcasts in many areas of New York and Pennsylvania.  FLN is a division of Family Life Ministries and reaches a potential listenership of 3.5 million.  We play contemporary Christian music and also carry syndicated Christian programming.  We have professional radio staff, run a full-fledged news department, and create original radio programming—all unique aspects of FLN.  Read the radio homepage of this Website or look at our program guide for more on Family Life Network.
